Sustainable Comfort increases Worcester holdings with $1M acquisition

Sustainable Comfort, a Worcester-based real estate and development firm, purchased a seven-unit multifamily building at 3 Irving St. in Worcester for $1 million.

The seller was Vista Estates, LLC of Worcester and represented by Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates broker Madison O’Brien and principal Will Kelleher, according to a Friday press release from the brokerage.

Demand for the fully-occupied property was high, drawing 50 parties for an open house on Easter weekend, O’Brien said. The sellers received an offer within four days of being on the market.

The sale was completed on May 5, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds.

The property was last sold to Vista Estates, LLC for $197,000 in 2001, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds. The City of Worcester assesses the property at $707,000.

Sustainable Comfort’s aim is to “move the multifamily market to conscious management that results in sustainable buildings that support the people who build them, call them home and the communities that surround them,” according to the company’s website.

The developer has purchased, preserved and/or renovated, with an eye toward energy efficiency, several multifamily properties across Worcester. The properties include 24-30, 38, and 91 Stanton St., 42-44 Gage St. and 19 and 26 Vinson St.

In August, Sustainable Comfort and Civico Development of Worcester, purchased a cluster of properties on Worcester’s west side for $4.65 million.
