CDS Monarch Senior Living Center
Continuing Developmental Services (CDS) Monarch required funding to build the Monarch Senior Living Center in Webster, New York. To achieve the most funding and incentives, CDS Monarch had to design the Center to meet several energy efficiency standards. CDS Monarch needed an energy efficiency consultant who could oversee all phases of the project and help secure the funding. Sustainable Comfort was ready to help.
The Sustainable Comfort Team:
- Worked with the developer during design phase to determine the best energy efficiency programs and achieve the highest level of funding.
- Adapted to funding and incentive program changes midway through project.
- In addition to project funding, we helped the client secure incentives totaling $82,250.
The Sustainable Comfort team started work with CDS Monarch in December 2009, prior to submittal for project funding from the department of Housing and Community Renewal (HCR). The team provided energy efficiency consulting throughout the project phases and secured funding and incentives from state and federal sources.
Our scope of work included design assistance, site inspections by Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Raters and final reporting to funding agencies. Our work at the CDS Monarch Senior Living Center included getting all 45 units ENERGY STAR® for Homes Certication. The ENERGY STAR® certication verified that the project met HCR’s energy efficiency requirements. Sustainable Comfort identified and secured additional incentives through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) New York ENERGY STAR® Homes Program.
“I am grateful to Sustainable Comfort and all of our partners for their roles in helping to provide a place where people with disabilities can age with their peers in the community.”
