Scaling efficiences: Worcester targets more ways to cut energy use

It has been 10 years since Worcester set out to become a model of energy efficiency for the rest of Massachusetts. Now, after reducing the city’s energy use by 7 percent over the past five years, city officials are working to reduce the municipal government’s consumption another 20 percent.
The original goal was to reduce energy consumption by 20 percent from 2010 to 2015; while the 7 percent reduction has fallen short of that goal, the city continues to work on upgrades and is aiming for another 20 percent cut by 2020.
