Albert LaValley

Albert LaValley is the President and co-founder of Sustainable Comfort. He has more than 15 years experience in construction and real estate, having provided consulting services for developers, construction managers, and building operations and maintenance professionals in ten US states. Albert began his career in the trades as an electrician before achieving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He joined Comfort Systems USA where he started a consulting practice focused on the development and operation of energy efficient, healthy, and environmentally friendly multifamily housing. Sustainable Comfort was founded in 2014.
James Moriarty
Vice Chairman & Director
James Moriarty is the Vice President and co-founder of Sustainable Comfort. James has been a practicing Energy Engineer and green building consultant for 9+ years. James consults with architects and developers on energy efficient design strategies and performs verification of energy performance for new construction and renovations for programs such as, Passive House Institute US (PHIUS), Enterprise Green Communities, ENERGY STAR™ and LEED® for Homes. James leads the quality assurance and oversight efforts of all verification programs. He has experience in whole building energy simulations for commercial buildings, nursing home facilities, multifamily residential buildings, and single-family homes.
Taylor Bearden
Director
Taylor Bearden is a partner at Civico Development with primary responsibilities for deal sourcing, partnership outreach, and project development. Civico is a real estate development firm focused on creating high-quality buildings, streetscapes, and neighborhoods that significantly enhance the social livability and environmental sustainability of our communities. Taylor joined SCI’s board as a Director in 2019 after WalkerThomas, the real estate management, consulting, and brokerage firm he founded, merged with SCI. Taylor graduated from Clark University, where he studied geography and community development and planning. Taylor’s expertise is in site selection, acquisition, zoning and entitlement, operations, and management.
Bryan Kaanta
Director
Bryan Kaanta is the Director of Customer Success at Kapiche, a feedback analytics software company. He has been involved in real estate development, rental market assessment, value add renovation projects, and high-tech energy efficiency solutions throughout New England and New York. Bryan is also a practicing leadership coach, leveraging experience as a US Air Force Officer, an MBA from Worcester Polytechnic Institute focusing in organizational development, and is a certificate practitioner of the Immunity to Change methodology from Harvard University. Bryan lives in Sydney, Australia with his wife Erin.
Andrew Consigli
Director
Andrew Consigli is a founding partner of Consigli Real Estate Holdings and the founder of Civico Development, a real estate development and architecture group leveraging progressive urbanism, quality design, and historic preservation to enhance the livability and sustainability of our communities. Andrew has extensive experience managing complex mixed-income, mixed-use development projects locally, nationally, and internationally. He previously worked as a senior designer at Elkus Manfredi Architects and as a Senior Project Manager at Imai Keller Moore Architects, the lead designer for the nationally recognized New Urbanist Community of Mashpee Commons. Andrew is a registered architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Jean Poteete
Director
Jean Poteete is currently the Senior Campus Planner at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. She has been involved in developing Grafton Science Park, a commercial science park adjacent to the Cummings School; and in programming and developing selected academic facilities, both on and off campus. Her responsibilities have included infrastructure grant-writing; leading a strategic hospital space planning initiative; updating the Tufts Grafton campus master plan; coordinating engineering, traffic and legal consultants in the local permitting process; leasing and marketing activities at the Cummings School’s incubator facility to attract small research and development companies; and performing financial modeling. She also served as Treasurer for Tufts Veterinary & Emergency Specialties, the school’s satellite hospital located in Walpole, MA during its construction and start-up period.
