Rome housing project earns plaudits from state group
The New York State Association for Affordable Housing recently called on state leaders to prioritize the development and preservation of affordable housing with sustained funding for the state’s affordable housing crisis, and highlighted the success of one local project in the process.
Among projects being lauded statewide is Rome’s Dewitt Clinton Apartments, developed by DePaul Properties. An 80-unit supportive and affordable development project, it revitalized the former DeWitt Clinton Elementary school site that had long sat vacant.
This is not the first time in recent weeks that the project has been recognized. The Rochester-based design firm SWBR secured Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, which is a green building rating system and the benchmark metric for energy-saving sustainable design.
