Starting with the 2012 IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) there is a simulated performance path option to demonstrate energy code compliance. The simulated performance alternative uses energy modeling software to compare projected heating, cooling, and hot water performance to the code equivalent. The proposed design will be demonstrated to meet code if the simulated energy cost of the proposed is less than the energy cost of the standard reference design. This allows for tradeoffs among various equipment efficiencies and envelope values. Using REM/Rate software we can run the energy modeling simulations to determine code compliance for your next design.
Sustainable Comfort can help you meet the code with performance path modeling.
